Two suspects chased, arrested after collision with sheriff's deputy cruiser near Hilliard

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Two arrests have been made after a Franklin County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was struck and the suspects fled a moving vehicle near Hilliard Wednesday morning.

According to a Hilliard police sergeant, a vehicle struck a FCSO cruiser was struck at the intersection of Spindler Road and Roberts Road, just outside of Hilliard in northwest Columbus. The suspects reportedly jumped out of the moving vehicle after the collision and fled the scene into a nearby wooded area.

A helicopter and K9 unit began searching for the suspects in a residential area and the first arrest was made at around 3:50 a.m. on Amberwick Place, just a couple of blocks away from the crash.

The second suspect was arrested a short time later at an unknown location.

There are no reports of any injuries from the crash and the vehicle in question came to a stop before any other damage occurred.

Columbus police, Hilliard PD and FCSO deputies all took part in the chase and searched for the suspects, while the sheriff’s office is leading the investigation.
