One dead, one hospitalized after two-car collision in Ross County

WAVERLY, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead and another hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash occurred in Ross County’s Franklin Township Tuesday evening.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on U.S. Route 23, near Alma Omega Road, north of Waverly, just before 6 p.m. Troopers arrived to find a two-car collision after a 2020 GMC Terrain veered left of center near a curve and struck a 2016 Nissan NV2500.

The driver of the GMC, 18-year-old Drezden Bolin-Hitchens, of Waverly, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old male from Columbus driving the Nissan was taken by Huntington Township EMS to Adena Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, while a passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The OSHP reported that all lanes on U.S. 23 were closed for approximately three hours and that the crash remains under investigation.
